Day 8: Yad Vashem, Israel Museum, Via Dolorosa, Garden Tomb

  • Group Departure from JFK (New York)
Day 2
  • Arrival at Ben Gurion International Airport
  • VIP Welcome service to escort you through Baggage Pickup, Passport Control, & Escort to Bus
  • Transfer to hotel
  • Political/Security Briefing at hotel by journalists: Avi Issacharoff, Yossi Klein Halevi, David Horivitz
  • Religious/Demographic briefing by expert in the area at the Kibbutz Ramat Rachel Lookout Point
  • Visit Mount Zion (the home of three faiths) and enjoy a discussion about Jerusalem’s multicultural atmosphere

  • Meet with Supreme Court Justice (current or former) and discuss role of judiciary (Maybe Aharon Barak?)
  • Finish meeting and discuss Israeli Judiciary
  • Lunch + Continue group discussion
  • Visit Border with Gaza, tour the security barrier with Army Official
  • Speak with expert on history of Gaza and the issues surrounding the Disengagement, Hamas’ election, blockade, etc…
  • Continue Discussion with expert and begin group discussion.

  • Dinner in Jerusalem with Rep from Defense/Foreign Ministry focusing on Israel’s relationship with Palestinian territories
  • Continue conversation with foreign ministry representatives and begin drive to Haifa
  • Dinner on your own and free time  in Haifa (Bar area on Carmel)

Day 6
  • Breakfast and headline updates
  • Meet with IBM Representative to discuss business practices in Israel. Compare to the US
  • Meet with students and professionals from the Technion to discuss Israeli technological contribution
  • Break
  • Travel to Intel HQ in Haifa and lunch with representative from Company.
  • Finish lunch and take a tour of Intel and discuss the role of business in Israel paying special attention to effect of IDF
  • Discuss General business cooperation between Israel and the US
  • Visit Bahai Gardens and discuss role of minorities in Israel
  • Travel to Kibbutz Nof Ginnosar for Shabbat (include U. of Haifa, Technion, and High School students of all backgrounds in shabbat stay at Kibbutz)
  • Dinner
  • Free Time
  • Overnight and Dinner: Kibbutz Nof Ginnosar, Sea of Galilee or similar
Day 7
  • Breakfast and headline updates
  • Israelis discuss their senior year of high school experiences vs. American senior year of high school experiences
  • Continue Discussion. Role of military in society? Discuss Gilad Shalit.
  • Group discussion on progress of trip so far
  • Break
  • Meet with map expert (David Makovsky?) to look at Israeli borders through the years. What would a 2-state solution look like?
  • Meet with Israeli negotiator/ Palestinian leader and discuss comparative territorial demands of the two peoples.
  • Haifa tour by night; visit immigrant communities
  • Continue Tour and visit Beit Hagefen: a Jewish-Arab cultural center
  • Finish Visit and return to Kibbutz

  • Begin visit of Better Place R&D Facility. Discuss Sustainability and Oil independence in Israel.

  • Independence Hall (short discussion on origins of Zionism and its evolution at Independence Hall)

  • Travel to the beach and group discussion
  • Dinner at the Nalagaat Center for the Deaf and Dumb

Day 9

  • Travel to the Peres Center for Peace
  • Discuss cooperation in Israel between Arabs and Jews and prospects for peace
  • Travel to Rawabi: site of planned Palestinian City
  • Tour Rawabi and meet with founder
  • Travel to Abu Dis with lunch. Begin meeting with former Palestinian PM, Abu Alaa

  • Travel and begin discussion of Zionism with Gil Troy or other expert: Zionism did NOT arise from the Holocaust.
